Shosenkyo

I had the opportunity to visit Shosenkyo last summer, a place with astonishing scenic beauty.
Mitake Shokenkyo which is part of the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park.
We started our trip early morning in Kofu Station where we rode a bus that took about 40min.
.

Then we took a cable car and had a panomaric view of the valley.
We visit a shrine on top of the hill and learn about the legend about a hermit, an owl and the golden grapes. There was a bell which is thought to bring good luck to the couples who stand beneath and ring it.

After descending from the hill we had "Nagashi-Somen" for lunch.
It was my first time and i found it very entertaining and refreshing. The "Nagashi-Somen" is especially eaten on summer and consist of very thin Japanese noodle that pass by very cold water. We could eat the "somen" either from a bamboo flume or from a stone water fountain and then dipping it in delicious "tsuyu". It was fun!

When finished eating, we started our hiking through Shosenkyo. I was mesmerized with the steep rocky mountains covered by trees.

The trail followed a river and we we saw the Shosenkyo Gorge which was very beautiful. No wonder why Shosenkyo was voted as the 2nd most beautiful spot in Japan just after Mt.Fuji by Yomiuri Newspaper readers.

I 'm planning to visit Shosenkyo soon again, before the Autum ends.
I recommend to do this trek to everybody, anytime of the year.
