This Golden Week was the long anticipated Fuji Shibazakura Festival! Just south of Lake Motosuko, an entire park is covered in Shibazakura, or moss phlox, creating a bright pink carpet all around you. With Mt Fuji in the background, the view truly has to be seen to be believed.
We went at around 9.30, an hour after the park opened, and it was already packed! This is one of the most popular festivals in Yamanashi, and you can see why!
It really feels like a carpet of flowers. On a clear day, with the flowers in full bloom, it was an amazing experience.
There are also many food stalls and local cuisine to try!
I urge everyone to visit the Shibazakura - if not this time, then next year! Enjoy the beautiful Yamanashi nature!
