Everyone in Japan, Japanese or foreigner,
knows Mt. Fuji and its picture can be seen everywhere, from post cards and
advertisements to TV shows. But, have you ever seen Mt. Fuji from close? What
about seeing it from one of its beautiful Five Lakes? And what about seeing it
while on a boat? And what if this boat is actually a bus?
Yamanakako no KABA, the Kaba bus, not only
takes you in a tour around Lake Yamanaka, from where you can see animals that
inhabit the forest near Mt. Fuji and local flowers and plants, but it takes you
into the Lake, from where you can see a stunning view of Mt. Fuji.
KABA is an amphibious bus with a unique
design with wide windows and translucent ceiling that allows those who ride it
to have a great view of what is around.
The guided tour takes around 30 min (10 min
in land, 20 on the water), and you can enjoy the view and the ride while
listening to information and curiosities about Lake Yamanaka in Japanese, or
English, Chinese, Thai and Indonesian if you use the audio guide system,
provided free of charge.
It is a perfect activity for summer, when
the weather is hot and you can refresh yourself with the cool wind and water,
but also great during winter, since it is possible to have a clear view of Mt.
Fuji in most days.
The tour is available everyday, from 10 am
to 3:30 pm, and each ride costs 2200 yen for adults and 1100 yen for children
(440 yen for infants from 0 to 3 years).
