Diamond Fuji is a majestic phenomenon that happens a
few times a year, when the sun rises or sets behind the peak of Mt. Fuji. When
it aligns with the top of the mountain, it looks like the sun is sparkling like
a diamond.
Diamond Fuji from Mt. Minobu |
You can see the Diamond Fuji from many
places in Yamanashi, as Mt. Minobu or Mt. Ryugatake, during the sunrise (check
the list of places and season here).
But if you are not an early bird, the phenomenon can
be seen at the sunset from Lake Yamanakako.
From the beginning to mid-February, since
the weather is clear and more stable, this phenomenon can be seen in many days. We call this period「DIAMOND FUJI WEEKS」, when you can enjoy a
magnificent natural spectacle if you come to Lake Yamanakako.
Check all the viewing spots, with the forecast, here: http://yamanakako.info/photo_diamond.php
On February 16th, an especial event called Ice
Candles Festival, with fireworks display, will also be held at the Community
Plaza Kirara (map here).
Enjoy the unique and fantastic view of the
Diamond Fuji and ice candles lit at the same time.
