How incredible it is, the sensation of
seeing and feeling the change of the seasons! This experience is a bit new for
me, since in Brazil we practically only have two seasons (summer and winter).
We are in autumn here in Japan and it is
already possible to see the tree leaves changing color: from green to yellow,
orange and finally red. A mixture of colors that completely changes the scenery
of the mountains! It gave me the impression of admiring a constant sunset.
With autumn, the cold temperature came, and
it seems it came to stay for good. The fall days, predominantly sunny, deceive
those who are inside looking out of the window, since outside temperatures are
between 11 and 12 degrees. And the cold wind is biting. Which means: never go
outside without a proper jacket!
In the midst of this climate, I went to see
what is known as こうよう (kouyou - changing color of the
trees) in the city of Fujiyoshida. The trip itself was breathtaking. Leaving
Kofu and going up in the mountains, between curves and tunnels, the panorama is
impressive. The first stop was at the famous Sengen Fujiyoshida temple. At the
top of a long staircase, the temple has a view of the imposing Mount Fuji and
the entire city. I could try to describe the beauty of the scene I saw, but in
this case a picture is worth a thousand words:
After visiting the temple, I spent the
afternoon at the FujiQ Highland amusement park with my friends. As the cold has
come to stay, you can already take part in some winter sports, such as ice
skating. The afternoon was quite amusing, with maneuvers on the ice rink, a few
falls, but lots of laughter and fun.
In the photo it looks like is already night, but this another curiosity about autumn: the days get dark earlier, around five in the afternoon. And the temperature from dusk to night goes down even more. In this picture it was about four thirty in the afternoon and the temperature was around 8 degrees.
Soon, winter is coming, and I cannot wait for the new
changes that come with the new season: the snow, the even colder cold and the
mountains all in white!
